All designers and products at blickfang Copenhagen 2012 have been handpicked by the Copenhagen-based jury, aiming for the individualistic taste of an urban, design-oriented audience. All products exhibited at blickfang fairs are for sale.
More than 100 exhibitors from ten different countries will make the design fair, blickfang Copenhagen 2012, at Øksnehallen a hotspot for design lovers.
Acclaimed Spanish designer, Jaime Hayón, ensures the cutting-edge fair’s focus on quality and helps mix furniture, fashion and accessories into an amazing shopping experience for design savvy visitors.
The Personal Contact creates Blickfang’s Identity
“The personal contact between the exhibiting designers and the visitors at the fair is especially important to us,” says Jeanne Reeves, General Manager at blickfang Copenhagen 2012.
“Hearing the story behind the design objects from the designer himself is a very special and rewarding experience to many of our visitors, and helps create our unique identity.”
Every single designer at Blickfang Copenhagen 2012 has been handpicked by a jury consisting of local design connoisseurs, like Rolf Hay (Hay), Peter Bonnén (Muuto), Mads Nørgaard (Nørgaard Copenhagen), Mette Barfod (Editor at RUM) and Anne Lohse (Editor at Eurowoman).

Quality and diversity are key factors for the products exhibited at blickfang Copenhagen 2012, for example fashion designer Freya Dalsjö’s debut collection (pictured) appeals to strong, self-conscious women, whereas Jean//phillip’s men’s wear attracts attention for its use of minimalism and exquisite materials.
Takes Design to a Higher Level
“In our globalized design world an exhibition format like Blickfang, where designers and manufacturers sell directly to the consumer, is an extremely progressive concept,” says Spanish designer Jaime Hayón.
“Lots of products lack personality and are frankly quite boring. When you have the opportunity to meet the designer in person and learn more about the design process it elevates the fair to a higher level.”
Jaime Hayón designs for world-famous brands, like Bisazza and Fritz Hansen, and advises Blickfang in creative matters.
Event: blickfang Copenhagen 2012
When: Friday 9 November 4-10 pm, Saturday 10 November 12 noon-9 pm and Sunday 11 November 11 am-7 pm
Where: Øksnehallen, Halmtorvet 11, 1170 Copenhagen V

“I love to surprise my audience by making them enjoy music they never thought they would like,” says DJ Katrine Ring. She headlines Yellow Lounge, DJ-sessions reinventing classical music, at Avenue Hotel for the seventh season running.
This autumn DJ Katrine Ring enters her seventh season head-lining the popular Yellow Lounge, reinventing classical music, at Avenue Hotel.
Katrine Ring is famous for challenging and surprising her audience. She has graciously agreed to share her thoughts on what makes for groovy music and an enjoyable atmosphere, and where to experience both in Copenhagen.
Groovy Music may be Challenging
“Bad music is simply bad craftsmanship. It’s plain noisy,” states DJ Katrine Ring.
Katrine Ring is an acclaimed DJ and music journalist, and many consider her the doyenne of Danish DJ’s.
“Good music may be challenging, difficult and demanding, but it always has a groove,” smiles Katrine Ring.
“And a good DJ has good music. She reads her audience, and selects the right music for it. It is less important whether she is a good technician or not,” adds Katrine Ring.
Unbeatable Atmosphere in Copenhagen
“A place has an enjoyable atmosphere if it is run by pleasant and competent people,” says DJ Katrine Ring.
“I find this atmosphere at La Fontaine, an old-school jazz venue in Copenhagen, where they select great, and always surprising, music.”
Katrine Ring has a special fondness for musical experiences in the urban spaces of Copenhagen – such as Superkilen and Tone Festival in the vibrant district, Nørrebro.
“Nørrebro is literally only a stone’s throw from Avenue Hotel,” jokes Katrine Ring, referring to the infamous riots in 1993 in the now mostly gentrified district.
“At Superkilen, a city space thought out by world-famous architect Bjarke Ingels, there are DJs every Friday, and in my favourite street, Jægersborggade, you often find live concerts with jazz, classical or electronic music,” says Katrine Ring.
Katrine Ring also recommends the free town of Christiania for its beautiful nature and innovative architecture, and food market, Torvehallerne, as its excellent mix of specialist food stores and restaurants has made it a new meeting-point in Copenhagen.
Local and International mix at Avenue Hotel
“Anything is possible at Avenue Hotel. I have never heard them say ‘no’ to a request,” says DJ Katrine Ring.
“I love Avenue Hotel because they manage to unite the local with the international. For our classical DJ-sessions, Yellow Lounge, guests from all over the world mix with locals who come by for a drink and to enjoy the atmosphere.”
She adds:”Also they serve great coffee and an amazing breakfast. Avenue Hotel is a secret I love to share.”
DJ Katrine Ring’s Spot, Offer and Treat
DJ Katrine Ring has kindly offered to recommend her favourite spot in Copenhagen, and together with the celebrated DJ we have found a special treat in the lounge bar and a special offer in the Avenue 24/7 Shop for our guests to enjoy.

“Jægersborggade is popular with the locals but the shop-keepers have an international orientation,” says DJ Katrine Ring. Experience Katrine Ring live at Yellow Lounge, revitalising classical music, every Wednesday at Avenue Hotel.
Avenue Spot of the Season – Autumn
“Jægersborggade is my favourite street in Copenhagen. It is popular with the locals but the shop-keepers have an international orientation,” says acclaimed DJ and music journalist Katrine Ring.
“A good example is my coffee-pusher, The Coffee Collective. They work with suppliers all over the world but they develop, roast and sell their coffees exclusively in inner-city Copenhagen.”
A few years ago Jægersborggade was a no-go area due to drug-related gang wars but local entrepreneurs have conquered the gangs and today Copenhageners are flocking to, among others, alternative, Michelin-starred, Restaurant Relæ, the power-house of natural wines and organic food, Manfreds, and award-winning, The Coffee Collective.

Copenhagen and Frederiksberg buzz with life on Friday 12 October as Culture Night launches more than 600 events in one night. Most of the events are less than a ten minute leisurely bike ride from Avenue Hotel (Pictured: Thorvaldsen Museum).
On Friday 12 October 2012 more than 250 museums, galleries, political institutions and other venues all over Copenhagen and Frederiksberg will open their doors to expose the hidden sides of the city’s cultural landscape.
Imagination creates Culture Night
“Culture Night has a unique ability to make the big official cultural institutions as well as the underground open their doors at the same time,” says project manager Marie Myschetzky from Culture Night.
She adds: “The programme has no theme but grows in all directions enabled by the sheer force and imagination of the participants.”
Select Events in Frederiksberg
Some of the potentially most popular events in our local ‘hood, Frederiksberg, are bound to be the pop-poetic concert by Mouritz/Hørslev Duo in collaboration with indie veteran, Nikolaj Nørlund, at atmospheric Møstings Hus, the chance to sneak a peek into the HQ of the Freemasons at Sct. Andreas Ordenen, or joining Mayor Jørgen Glenthøj as he guides an intimate group behind the scenes at Frederiksberg Town Hall.
Tickets and More Information
If you buy a ‘KulturKit’ (Culture Night Pass) for DKK 90 (approximately 12 Euros) you get free admission to all events as well as free access to public transportation from 5 pm to 5 am.
Find more information about the Culture Night Pass and browse the entire programme at Kulturnatten.dk.
And remember, most of the events are less than a 10 minute leisurely bike ride from Avenue Hotel.
