The Elephant Parade Copenhagen combines Art, Business and Charity
“I love it when I can combine art, good business sense and charity,” says Mai Kappenberger, General Manager at Avenue Hotel.
So when the people behind The Elephant Parade Copenhagen asked Mai Kappenberger to become one of their ambassadors she did not need much time for reflection before agreeing to participate in the project on behalf of Avenue Hotel.
She adds: “After all, who doesn’t love elephants ..?”
Will Delight Copenhageners and Visitors
The Elephant Parade Copenhagen will consist of 100 life size baby elephants cast in glass fibre and individually decorated by Danish and international artists. The elephants will take the streets of Copenhagen in the summer of 2011 to the delight of Copenhageners and visitors alike.
Each elephant will be sponsored by a company and is to be auctioned off by Bruun Rasmussen on 8 September, 2011.
Help Save the Endangered Asian Elephants
The proceeds from the auction will help support endangered Asian elephants via the British aid organization Elephant Family. The project is the brainchild of father and son, Mark and Mike Spitz. The Elephant Parade has already taken the major Dutch cities and London, raising more than DKK 46 milion of which DKK 25 million have been used to help the Asian elephants.
Avenue Hotel’s Very Special Elephant
At Avenue Hotel we plan to have an elephant standing in Åboulevard, the busy main street in which the hotel is situated. The elephant will hopefully delight the thousands of commuters who will pass it every day, make people think about the difficult situation of the elephants, and direct some attention towards Avenue Hotel in the process.
