Copenhagen Pride invites the entire city to celebrate DIVERSITY 19-22 August

“It is one of the most colourful and unique parties in Copenhagen,” wrote the highly respected city guide AOK as it awarded Copenhagen Pride the title as The Best Street Party in Copenhagen.
Copenhagen Pride is a four day festival high-lighting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual culture with open-air films, concerts, debates and parties. The festival culminates with the popular parade through the city on Saturday 21 August.

Parade and Free Open-air Concert
Copenhagen Pride 2010 invites the entire city to celebrate DIVERSITY as the Pride Parade marches (or more correctly: Dances) its way from Frederiksberg Town Hall to Copenhagen City Hall on Saturday 21 August at 1 pm. The party culminates at 4 pm with the free open-air concert on the City Hall Square where around 40,000 happy spectators are expected.
One of the most popular places to watch the parade is Dronning Louises Bro (a 10 minutes walk along The Lakes from Avenue Hotel). When the parade has passed the bridge it is an easy walk from there to City Hall Square – just in time for the concert to begin.

Organizations like Amnesty International remind the party-goers that there is a political angle to the party

The young Swedes from Peter Wickström Band lit up the summer night with their energetic mix of pop, jazz and soul at Avenue Hotel on Thursday 15 July.

New Favourites and Well-known Crowd Pleasers
“Super fedt,” (Very Cool), said Peter Wickström Band. Two of the few words they had learned in Danish as they enthusiastically went on to perform songs from their debut cd Clear Sky as well as crowd pleasers like Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles.

The young Swedish musicians from Peter Wickström Band perform their summery mix of pop, jazz and soul at Avenue Hotel on Thursday 15 July at 5 pm and at 8 pm.

“We want to focus on something of real value that can inspire people,” says Peter Wickström Band.
The band just launched their debut CD Clear Sky with a successful concert in Berlin.
The band members are between 19 and 22 years old and describe themselves as “young, hungry musicians who aim to engage the audience in the creative process.”

Happy guests enjoyed the avenue feeling and the beautiful summer night on Avenue’s patio on Wednesday 16 June.

Bar Manager Kenneth greeted guests with his own exotic concoction Avenue Oriental Style, while chefs Marie and Thomas grilled organic pork and flounder on the patio.

Guests lounged on the comfy sofas on the patio enjoying summery Italian rosé wine…

…refreshing organic wheat beer…

…selected delicacies from the Danish summer crop.

Chef Thomas worked as quick as lightning to restock popular delicacies like green pea dip with twist-breads, pearl barley salad with green asparagus and tomato salad with pickled red onions…

…and to finish: Danish strawberries galore with double cream. Only available in the very short summer season the Danes insist that no other strawberries compare.

DJ Peer Kaae created the mood with classical ear hangers, while soloist Andreas Birk delighted guests by playing Bach on his favourite instrument, the viola.

Søren from iCycle let adventurous guests try Avenue’s new electric bikes ensuring them fair wind on the city’s competitive bike paths.
