“It aims to offer food with a similar local, seasonal perspective but with lower prices than Noma”, writes lifestyle bible, MONOCLE, about our new almost neighbour, Restaurant Radio, in their November issue high-lighting “Danes that do it better”.
“We have visited the aisles, shelves and banquettes of food outlets to find the best retailers,” writes the lifestyle bible MONOCLE in their November issue.
They have come up with some great shops that make customers feel good and have created environments where people actually enjoy being.
Quite a few of them are in Copenhagen, and in our neighbourhood…
Danes That do It Better
In their November issue the guys from trend-bible, MONOCLE, recommend among others:
Lagkagehuset
“A chain of bakeries that’s risen by never allowing quality to sink”.
Løgismose
“A high quality brand that’s spreading its ethos to the most unlikely corners of food retail”.
Joe & the Juice
“The Danish juice bar that isn’t relying on typical Scandinavian style to spread its message”.
Irma
“When Danes want high quality, this is the go-to supermarket”.
Aamanns
“Rye bread with a simple topping might not sound like culinary fireworks. However, at Aamanns it is sparking taste buds”.
Restaurant Radio
“It aims to offer food with a similar local, seasonal perspective but with lower prices than Noma”.
More about “Danes that do it better”
Newly opened Restaurant Radio is right around the corner, and the rest of the outlets are leisurely five to ten minute bike rides, from Avenue Hotel.

The Night of Culture in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg promises more than 500 cultural events in one night. Most of the events are less than a ten minute leisurely bike ride from Avenue Hotel.
On 14 October more than 250 museums, galleries, political institutions and other venues all over Copenhagen and Frederiksberg will open their doors to expose the hidden sides of the city’s cultural landscape.

Imagination creates the Night of Culture
“The Night of Culture has a unique ability to make the big official cultural institutions as well as the underground open their doors at the same time,” says project manager Marie Myschetzky from The Night of Culture.
She adds: “The programme has no theme but grows in all directions enabled by the sheer force and imagination of the participants.”
After-party with Live Music, DJs and Art
“We take our name literally and expand the events till 4 pm with an after-party mixing live music, DJs and art,” says Kari Haugan Engberg from Danish Architecture Centre.
The after-party starts at 11 pm, it has a capacity of 2,000 people, and entry is included in the Night of Culture Pass.

“Playtype is thought to be the world’s first physical shop selling typefaces,” reports MONOCLE in its October issue. Read the trend-setting magazine in our lounge, or visit Playtype in Værnedamsvej, a pleasant ten minute bike ride from Avenue Hotel.
“The world has been using typefaces for hundreds of years – but only now has the first bricks and mortar shop started selling fonts. e-Types, the Copenhagen branding company behind the move, is hoping it’s the start of something big,” writes the lifestyle bible MONOCLE in its October issue.
The World’s First Shop selling Typefaces
“Sometimes, it’s important to do something which doesn’t make sense.”
Rasmus Ibfelt, partner and strategic director of the Danish digital foundry and brand agency e-Types, explains the rationale (or lack thereof) behind the new shop, Playtype, to the readers of MONOCLE.
e-Types opened Playtype, its seasonal shop, last December, selling 200 or so fonts as well as a small range of products, such as mugs and t-shirts, featuring two of its typefaces.
Playtype is thought to be the world’s first physical shop selling typefaces, MONOCLE reports.

Playtype has great success selling mugs and t-shirts, featuring two of its typefaces. Tourists preferring products with the Scandinavian letters ‘Å’ and ‘Ø’, partner at e-Types, Rasmus Ibfelt, tells MONOCLE.
Visit Playtype or enjoy MONOCLE
