You are invited to enjoy the best art from more than 60 of the leading Nordic art galleries, when the art fair, Art Copenhagen 2012, opens its doors on Friday 14 September.
This year Art Copenhagen has also invited some of Europe’s fastest-growing young galleries to participate at the art fair.

The Best Contemporary Art in Scandinavia
With more than 60 galleries from Denmark, Sweden and Finland Art Copenhagen stands out as the leading fair for contemporary art in Scandinavia.
This year the fair has invited a number of Europe#s most innovative young galleries to give visitors to the fair an insight into the developments in the European art scene.
“It has always been our intention to expand the fair to include the international art scene,” says Project Manager, Henriette Dybkaer.
“It was only natural for us to ask the recognised galleries, we already work with, to invite their foreign partners – and this approach has certainly delivered a higher quality than ever before.”

Saturday Night is Gallery Night
In the evening on Saturday 15 September Art Copenhagen introduces a new initiative in collaboration with the web portal, Kopenhagen Magasin. Select galleries in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg will be open from 7 to 10 pm to welcome visitors with even more appetite for art after the fair’s closing.
Events on Gallery Night are for free and open to the general public.

Art Copenhagen offers art buffs the opportunity to get updated on the newest trends on the contemporary art scene through its extensive programme of stage events, panel discussions and artists' talks.

Golden Days Festival kick-starts on Saturday 8 September, when Vega, an exquisite example of Danish 50es architecture, invites you for a 50es-ball with rock & roll music, old school big bands, bebop and cool jazz.

Golden Days Festival take the Danish Capital and surrounding suburbs with events, parties and debates focusing on the 1950es from Friday 7 September to Sunday 23 September 2012.
With more than 400 events, the festival-makers pinpoint the decade as a historic period and to put today’s crisis into perspective.
They invite you to take of your nostalgia-tinted glasses – or keep them on – as you please, when they contrast debates about the paranoia of the cold war and desperate housewives with rock & roll-parties and sight-seeing-buses with singing stewardesses.

Our local hood, Frederiksberg, plans a special Day of Memories on Saturday 15 September with themes as diverse as a parade of Nimbus motorbikes, the murder mystery of the century and the golden age of football.

New Nordic or Taste the World
Carlsberg’s historic Brewery invites you to sample the best food the Nordic region has to offer as a range of top Nordic restaurants, and choice food suppliers, serve tastings focusing on local produce and food traditions at Nordic Taste on 25-26 August. Whereas our neighbouring street, Rantzausgade, is transformed into a gigantic, and very diverse, street kitchen under the headline: Diversity Festival – Taste the World on 1-2 September.

Whether you prefer New Nordic Cuisine, traditional Danish ‘smørrebrød’ or want a bit of everything, the food festival, Copenhagen Cooking, will have your taste buds singing for joy. And remember most of the restaurants are less than a leisurely ten minute bike ride from Avenue Hotel.

Celebrate the Nordic Heritage
Acclaimed chef, Anders Aamann, is famous for rejuvenating the classic Danish ‘smørrebrød’ (a.k.a. open-faced sandwiches on dark rye) and is joined by some of Denmark’s finest chefs as he teaches guests the tricks of the trade at his open sandwich workshop on Sunday 2 September.
Should you prefer the more traditional ‘smørrebrød’, pay a visit to Restaurant Kronborg, as they serve a traditional lunch platter with a twist, accompanied by a beer menu from local gourmet brewery, Nørrebro Bryghus, from 24 August to 1 September.

Copenhagen Pride 2012 invites the entire city to celebrate diversity as the Pride Parade marches (or more correctly dances) its way from Frederiksberg Town Hall to Copenhagen City Hall on Saturday 18 August at 1 pm.
The party culminates at 4 pm with the free open-air concert on the City Hall Square. The concert is hosted by pop star Julie Berthelsen and fashion personality Jim Lyngvild, who expect around 40,000 happy spectators.
Make sure to buy advance tickets for the official Pride Party, AllRights CPH, at KB3 in the meatpacking district on Saturday 18 August, and recuperate at the official Pride Brunch at Restaurant Kronborg on Sunday 19 August.
