A DO NOT DISTURB-sign from Avenue Hotel will hopefully help the avid sign-collectors improve their record for the 2013-version of Guinness Book of Records.

Madame Gabrielle Briswalder from France and two of her friends have a funny and colourful hobby: they collect DO NOT DISTURB-signs from hotels all over the world.
They have more than 10,000 signs collected from more than 189 countries since 1985, and they are still busy collecting, aiming to improve their entry in Guinness Book of Records 2013.
This week they received a DO NOT DISTURB-sign from Avenue Hotel, and we keep our fingers crossed in the hope that they will reach their goal.

“If I’m staying in the city with my kids, we love to visit Lagkagehuset, the best bakery in Copenhagen, and then we might rent a rowing boat in Christianshavn to explore the canals,” says Mai Kappenberger, General Manager at Avenue Hotel, to Heather Cowper, blogger at Heather on her travels and Mr & Mrs Smith.

Popular travel blogger, Heather Cowper from Heather on her travels, visited Copenhagen and Avenue Hotel.
During her stay Heather Cowper interviewed General Manager, Mai Kappenberger, about her best insider-tips to Copenhagen’s design world and where to take children of all ages.

“For a lovely family day out, head to Dyrehaven, a forest on the outskirts of the city, to see the hundreds of deer running wild. For somewhere to eat with an old-fashioned Danish feel, try Peter Lieps Hus in the park,” Mai Kappenberger tells travel blogger Heather Cowper.

Barndrømmen initiates projects, which aim to benefit children and youths, who live in poverty in Denmark. Barndrømmen is proudly sponsored by Avenue Hotel.

A growing group of children and youths in Denmark do not have access to benefits and experiences, which other youngsters their age take for granted.
Barndrømmen aims to give these youngsters a helping hand; the voluntary, non-profit organization was founded by cultural entrepreneur Dorthe Foged.
Avenue Hotel is proud to support Barndrømmen.

The Number of Youngsters living in Poverty is Rising
“Thousands of children and youths live in poverty in Denmark – and the number is rising,” says Dorthe Foged, Founder and Daily manager of the voluntary, non-profit organization, Barndrømmen (Child’s Dream).
“The youngsters lack access to the benefits and experiences, which other youngsters their age take for granted: a proper bed, healthy food, winter boots which fit properly, toys and IT-equipment.”
Dorthe Foged is an award-winning cultural entrepreneur, and the former Director of The Danish Institute of Culture in Great-Britain. She founded Barndrømmen inspired by her experiences in Great-Britain, where private people support – and get involved in – a wide range of charitable activities.

A Helping Hand to Underprivileged Youngsters
“Barndrømmen aims to give underprivileged Danish children and youths a helping hand,” says Dorthe Foged.
“Through Barndrømmen we aim to raise awareness about the conditions these youngsters live under, and through our own initiatives we aim to give them cultural experiences, benefits and make them feel included.”

Culture-tour: In autumn 2011 Barndrømmen will organize a range of cultural activities for underprivileged youngsters.
The two projects will involve a long list of acclaimed artists, like television personality Shane Bronx and jazz musician Chris Minh Doky.
