Lifestyle Bible Monocle Finds the Nordic Soul in Frederiksberg

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

The all-organic grocers Egefeld in Frederiksberg is one of entrepreneur Claus Meyer's favourite food haunts, he tells lifestyle magazine Monocle.

“Frederiksberg is a lot more vibrant now,” entrepreneur and foodie Claus Meyer says about his (and Avenue Hotel’s) local neigbourhood in the October edition of the lifestyle magazine Monocle.

From Conservative to Vibrant
Claus Meyer co-founded the acclaimed restaurant Noma, and is one of the leading lights of the New Nordic Food Movement. He has been living in the fashionable neighbourhood Frederiksberg in Copenhagen for 22 years, and has seen it change from a very conservative area to a vibrant area with lots of coffee shops, restaurants and bakeries, writes Monocle.

Claus Meyer’s Favourite Food Haunts
Claus Meyer takes Monocle’s readers for a guided tour of his favourite foodie spots in Frederiksberg in the October edition of the lifestyle bible. Among the places on the entrepreneur’s personal short list are his own deli, the Rein. van Hauen artisanal bakery, the cheese shop Helges Ost and the all-organic grocers Egefeld.
All of Claus Meyer’s favourite haunts are less than a ten minutes bike ride from Avenue Hotel.

The AveTeam in the DHL Relay Race

Sunday, September 12th, 2010
If there is one thing that characterizes the AveTeam it is definitely their fighting spirit! Last Friday we participated in the DHL Relay Race at Fælledparken, one of the most popular parks in Copenhagen. The DHL Relay Race is the world’s biggest “fun run” with more than 125,000 participants. You participate in teams of 5 people, and everybody has to run 5 kilometres.

It is amazing to see Copenhageners gathering on a Friday evening for an active sport event. Well … the beers and the party ambience in 35 XL sized tents which follow this event, make up some of the attraction as well!

Proudly we can announce that the AveTeam came in as no. 117 of more than 3,000 teams in the time 1:49:42. The fastest runner, our cocktail tender Kenneth Christensen, ran 5 kilometres in only 19:19 minutes.

We may also note, just for the sake of good order, that there were no hotels among the 116 teams faster than the AveTeam.
