Avenue Hotel is one of the four best hotels in Copenhagen writes the British newspaper Daily Telegraph. The paper praises Avenue for being “cool yet friendly”.
“There is something effortlessly cool yet friendly and relaxed about Avenue Hotel in leafy Frederiksberg, Copenhagen’s answer to Notting Hill,” writes Daily Telegraph on Sunday 25 July. Daily Telegraph is the biggest selling British broadsheet daily.

Everything at KIND OF BLUE is designed for your laidback pleasure
When You’re in a Laidback Mood
“Everything here is designed to be laidback,” says owner Claus Ploug of his bar Kind of Blue. The name is inspired by the classic jazz record Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. It defines the mood of the bar, enhanced by the specially designed colour on the walls, and the music chosen by Claus Ploug.

Owner Claus Ploug has selected everything at KIND OF BLUE according to his own taste and definition of quality
“It’s My Ego-trip”
Claus Ploug readily admits that Kind of Blue is his ego-trip. He has selected everything according to his own taste and definition of quality:
The music consists of more than 70 compilations he has mixed himself from his favourite CDs, whether it’s jazz, folk or rock it’s always smooth and laidback.
The decor is either designed especially for Kind of Blue or it’s design classics like the eternally popular Eames shell chairs and the fashionable Jieldé Lamps. The furniture is from Relove, his girlfriend’s show room for vintage furniture, conveniently situated at the back of the bar.
He serves plunger coffee because of the better flavour, and because an espresso machine would make too much noise for the guests to enjoy the music …

The decor at KIND OF BLUE consists of carefully selected design classics like the original Eames shell chairs
Live Music and Events
Check out Claus Ploug’s personal take on the perfect spot for coffee, drinks and music when jazz guitarist Tao Højgaard and friends play live at Kind of Blue during Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2010.

COPENHAGEN JAZZ FESTIVAL 2010 further heats up the city 2-11 July
Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2010 further heats up the city 2-11 July.
Katrine Ring, resident DJ at Avenue’s popular Yellow Lounge, is an experienced jazz DJ as well. She shares her tips to some of the most interesting events at the festival:
Jazz Dance After Party at JazzHouse
“My partner DJ Tony M from Vibezone and Perry Louis (UK) play in the concert hall, while I play upstairs at Copenhagen JazzHouse on Friday 2 July,” says DJ Katrine Ring.
“It is kind of an after party for the opening of Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and we will be joined by the British dance group JazzCotech Dancers. Those guys have worked with some of the best people in the business, like Jamiroquai, James Brown and Jon Hendricks. It’s their first visit to Denmark, and they are truly awesome.”
Eddie Palmieri Plays Fantastic Dance Music
“I shared the stage with Eddie Palmieri a couple of years ago. He is a super talented musician and he really impressed me,” DJ Katrine Ring continues.
“Eddie Palmieri plays salsa and latin jazz with The Afro-Caribbean All-Stars at Pressens hus on Monday 5 July. They play the NY way and it is great dance music.”

Happy guests enjoyed the avenue feeling and the beautiful summer night on Avenue’s patio on Wednesday 16 June.

Bar Manager Kenneth greeted guests with his own exotic concoction Avenue Oriental Style, while chefs Marie and Thomas grilled organic pork and flounder on the patio.

Guests lounged on the comfy sofas on the patio enjoying summery Italian rosé wine…

…refreshing organic wheat beer…

…selected delicacies from the Danish summer crop.

Chef Thomas worked as quick as lightning to restock popular delicacies like green pea dip with twist-breads, pearl barley salad with green asparagus and tomato salad with pickled red onions…

…and to finish: Danish strawberries galore with double cream. Only available in the very short summer season the Danes insist that no other strawberries compare.

DJ Peer Kaae created the mood with classical ear hangers, while soloist Andreas Birk delighted guests by playing Bach on his favourite instrument, the viola.

Søren from iCycle let adventurous guests try Avenue’s new electric bikes ensuring them fair wind on the city’s competitive bike paths.
Yellow Lounge will be back in August.

"Copenhageners are still studiously at work transforming their city into the people's metropolis," writes lifestyle bible Monocle in their July/August issue
“Copenhagen sets the standard for low-emission urban living,” writes the lifestyle bible Monocle in their yearly ranking of the Top 25 Cities to Call Home. For the second year in a row Monocle ranks Copenhagen as the 2nd most liveable city in the world.
Monocle elaborates: “Copenhagen’s community-focused architecture coupled with the Danes’ civic commitment to looking after one another and their unyielding bicycle-obsession are all reasons why this city always ranks so high. It doesn’t hurt that the city is also home to 13 Michelin-starred restaurants, including Noma.”
